5 Things To Do In Blackpool As A Family

Blackpool is a must visit part of the UK, especially for families. Here’s five things to do in Blackpool as a family.

Visit Blackpool Tower

Blackpool Tower was opened to the public in 1894 and is one of Britain’s most loved landmarks. Even now, visitors are astounded by the tower and it’s ornate design and simple presence. The Tower is part of the Merlin Entertainments Group which means free entry if you are a pass-holder.

Ticket prices are reasonable however for those who don’t hold Merlin passes – you can buy single attraction tickets for as little as £14 per adult online, £16.50 on the door with similar discounts available online for toddlers, children and groups. There are eleven different rooms with five different attractions so plenty to see and do for the whole family. There is a brand new room which has just opened on the 5th floor – a family entertainment space which is perfect for conferencing, banqueting and family shows. You can also head to the Dungeons, the Ballroom, the Circus, Dino Mini Golf or even brave the Blackpool Tower Eye – are you brave enough to step onto the glass floor that high up? 380ft in the air with panoramic views – will you give it a try?

Take A Walk Along The Beach

Everyone loves a trip to the beach and Blackpool beach is definitely one worth visiting. It was recently awarded a Blue Flag and it is easy to see why. It isn’t known as Blackpool’s Golden Mile for no reason! You can visit the beach 24 hours a day and admission is free.

The steps lead straight down into the sea when the tide is in which is amazing!

Check Out The Piers & The Promenade

There are three piers in Blackpool – North Pier, Central Pier and South Pier. North Pier is home to the North Pier Theatre, Venetian Carousel and Victorian Tearooms whilst the Central Pier offers a stunning 108ft ferris wheel, a funfair and plenty of arcade games. The South Pier is essentially a mini theme park and even has a kiddies area too.

Be sure to check all three piers out and stroll down the promenade between each one. Don’t forget to check out the Comedy Carpet which features quotes from some of the most iconic comedians this country has ever had to offer, many who started their careers in Blackpool.

Mingle With The Celebs At Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds Blackpool is also a Merlin Entertainments attraction so you can gain entry for free with your pass. It is also included on many of the package tickets mentioned in the Blackpool Tower section which are very affordable.

There is plenty to see and do at Madame Tussauds, including plenty of things unique to the Blackpool site. The Strictly Come Dancing experience is spectacular and the Marvel superheroes are amazing. By far the best attraction onsite though is the Coronation Street section where you can even grab a drink in the Rover’s Return – it certainly makes for a fun experience.

Enjoy Some Fun At Coral Island

Coral Island is a fantastic attraction on the seafront with plenty of arcade games and rides for kids to enjoy. The games and rides are very affordable and there are numerous restaurants onsite, should the family get hungry. Even better, kids eat free all day every day (1 paying adult for every free child).
