How are you? How is lockdown going for you? I don’t know about you but ever since lockdown started, I’ve been compiling a list of things that we would rather be doing instead! This is a purely speculative post – I completely understand the need for lockdown and have been staying at home with the kids. Steve is a key worker so he has still been leaving the house but it is nice to dream about the things you would be doing instead if this wasn’t happening, right?
Visiting Iceland
I am so glad we didn’t book this and were actually holding out for some decent last minute deals. Steve and I had planned to visit Iceland in the May half term once we’d moved into the new house and so my Mum could stay here and babysit. Thankfully we were holding out as it would obviously have been cancelled. A girl can still dream about going though, right? We will be arranging this for 2021 instead.
Going On Days Out
As this is a travel and days out blog, you would probably expect us to go on a lot of days out – and we do. We don’t go out every weekend but we will always try to either go away during school holidays or visit a few different places on days out. We are lucky to live in an area with plenty of different places to visit and I’d love nothing more than to explore these places with the kids. I’d even love to be doing some of these things if we are still in some sort of lockdown in Autumn. Meanwhile here are some blog post ideas for travel bloggers stuck at home.
Visiting Family
Obviously a big no-no right now but just like everyone else, we’d love to be able to visit family right now. We usually see a lot of my mum when not in lockdown as she lives nearby but ever since Steve’s parents moved to near Boston, we were seeing them once a month for a day or two if that. Who knows when we will next be able to see them now?
Get Excited For Our Summer Holiday
We were planning to head to Portugal during the summer holidays but this is not going to be happening now so this too will be rearranged for 2021. Tourism has taken a big hit and there is a long road back to sustainable tourism.
Visit York
This was a plan for the Easter holidays that obviously didn’t come to fruition. I visited the city once on a school trip when I was 11 and I have always wanted to go back. Steve has always wanted to visit so as soon as travelling around the UK is allowed and safe, we will be visiting the city and exploring.
Whilst we’re stuck in lockdown, why not check out this post about how to plan a staycation in your home?
