As one would expect, some of the following attractions would be on anyone’s list, but here are my picks and why:
Universal Studios Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida
While most people know that Universal is a theme park in Florida, some may not be aware that there are two separate parks here. Those who like the movie experience, will like the regular Universal Studios theme park, but for us, it is Islands of Adventure that appeal the most. Islands of Adventures is where the bulk of the rides are in the Universal Studios Orlando. The best ride being Dueling Dragons in the Lost Continent section, one of the best inverted roller coasters I can think of, hands down.
Disneyworld Epcot in Orlando, Florida
Disneyworld is so big that it is almost impossible to do more than one park in a day, thoroughly, we hit Epcot first thing, and all the rest pale by comparison for us. We love World Showcase the best, it is as close as you can get to the real Europe, Asia and Mexico while staying in the USA. There are few rides here, but the experiences derived from visiting each land is well worth the visit.
In particular, visit the Morocco Pavilion, broken into two sections, the Ville Nouvelle or “New City” and the Medina or “Old City”.
There are no rides here but there is good entertainment and food so try the Restaurant Marrakesh for authentic belly dancing and great food. Buy a Fez while there and listen to the band Mo’Rockin, check out the art gallery and the history museum for a better understanding of the Moroccan people and their country.

Yosemite National Park, California
This is one beautiful place, but try not to go in the summer time, millions of people visit this place every year and most of those during the summer months. Early fall or spring are the best. Yosemite Valley is 7 miles long but only 1 mile wide, so everything is within easy reach. Camping and hiking are really popular, but there are nice hotels and restaurants here for those that prefer that style.
Las Vegas, Nevada
Ah, “Sin City”, while I don’t recommend bringing kids here, they have now done away with most of the attractions that appeal to the little ones, it is the best place for people who like to party, see and be seen and sun bathe. We rarely sleep when there, there is something to do every hour of the day and so have fun.
The Grand Canyon in Arizona
One of the most magnificent attractions of all is the Grand Canyon, there are no modern rides here, but there is plenty to do out of doors ride down into the canyon on horseback, it is an unbelievable ride. Dine on the rim, its great food and beautiful vistas. The Grand Canyon is the don’t miss attraction in the US.
I hope you find the perfect vacation spot for you and yours. Enjoy!
Nice list! I guess most of these attractions are on every traveler’s bucket list. I am longing to visit The Grand Canyon and Yosemite. Hopefully soon! Great post!
